The new pavilion at the Allman Park Racecourse will be ready for the Warwick Picnic Races on Saturday.
The Warwick Turf Club received a grant for the construction of the pavilion which will seat the patrons in the pavilion area under cover at the races on Saturday.
“We have 700 patrons booked in so far and more are welcome,” turf club president Phil Grant said.
The new building has been dubbed The Coffee Club Pavilion for the picnic races and is being erected in an area where marquees have been set up for past picnic races.
Will West from Tri-Steel is the contractor for the construction of the new pavilion and it is expected construction will finish tomorrow. The western wall will be enclosed along with part of the northern wall.
Volunteers from the Warwick community worked hard last Saturday to help set up for the concreting of the floor area in the pavilion.
Grant said he was happy with the nominations for the races on Saturday.
“We can only start 12 horses as it is a non-TAB meeting and will have full fields in most races.”
Gates open at noon Saturday for the five-race card. Race 1 is at 12.50pm.
Bookings for the pavilion area, $45 a head, on www.warwickturfclub.org.au. Pavilion tickets will be $50 at the gate on the day.
There will also be general admission to the races, $15 per person
